Jenna Birth Doula in Harrisonburg, Va
Member of Virginia is for Doulas
Three years ago, Jenna’s life was transformed when she participated in the birth of her nephew. She witnessed the strength and power of her sister and brother-in-law as they welcomed their son into the world without fear, surrounded by the confidence of a supportive birth team. This experience inspired her to complete her childbirth doula training through DONA International.
She has been privileged to serve as a birth doula in both hospital and home settings, empowering women and their families to enjoy ownership of their birth wishes and be informed throughout their preparation, labor, and birth journey. She believes strongly in supporting her clients’ decisions about their births, free of judgment, with much joy, enthusiasm, humor and kindness. Her clients appreciate her thoughtfulness in helping prepare for birth, calm presence and intuition, and collaborative nature with partners and other birth team members. One of Jenna’s key goals in providing doula support is promoting a positive memory of the birthing experience through validating clients’ emotions, affirming their efforts, and maintaining their informed participation.
Jenna lives in the Shenandoah Valley in Harrisonburg, Virginia, with her husband and their dog, Mabel. She is the proud aunt of three nephews and two nieces who each brings great joy and inspiration into her life. She also works as a public school educator in the fields of English Language Learners, Dual Language (Spanish-English) Education, and Reading Education. Her other interests are making time for yoga on her back porch, family dinner nights, (mostly cooked by her husband), and spending time outdoors camping and hiking.
She is committed to providing doula services for the Spanish-speaking community and can provide her services in Spanish.
